Why we created Apsis Carbon
In the past, business valuation was based on tangible assets. Over time, the value of intangible items gained importance in assessing a company’s worth. Our entry into this segment stemmed from this awareness, as we constantly monitor business evolution and emerging needs.
Apsis is a consulting firm with over 45 years of experience, recognized in Brazil by the financial market as an expert in asset valuations that support stock prices and exchange ratios in major transactions and business combinations (M&A). We’ve had the honor of participating in landmark transactions in the Brazilian market—such as the creation of Ambev, the B2W retail group, among others—which significantly boosted our market visibility, primarily due to our commitment to ethics, the technical quality of our team, and our adherence to deadlines. Our focus on these fundamental pillars, combined with our long-standing market presence, helped build trust and credibility in all the services we develop and deliver, always aiming to contribute to value creation for our clients’ businesses.
Within this context, we identified a new avenue for value creation through ESG pillars. In our view, the financial market is undergoing a full transition from a ‘black and white vision’—where business opportunities are selected based on a project’s potential cash flow—to a ‘colorful vision’ of projects, integrating environmental, social, and governance benefits into decision-making. These new ESG lenses will unlock an infinite horizon of possibilities for the financial market. We don’t need to assess now the extent of this expansion, how it will unfold, or for how long. We simply need to change our lenses and wait. Adaptation will come quickly, given the market’s characteristic creativity and speed, and new pricing methodologies and metrics will emerge. A new cycle of expansion, now much larger, in full color, and crucially aligned with our planet, in a virtuous ‘win-win’ game. And then we will have new generations of consumers of products and services as allies: consumers up to 22 years old, dubbed Generation Z. The radical shift from discourse to the practice of sustainability was born from the essence of these young people, as 73% of them stated in a First Insight survey that they are willing to pay more for products and services from demonstrably sustainable companies.
Apsis Carbon marks Apsis’s entry into this new, colorful business world. The first step was to select a team with extensive experience in social and environmental projects and engagement with the third sector of the economy to join Apsis’s engineering, finance, governance, and compliance team. Right from the initial planning meetings, the seeds of the first innovations in Apsis Carbon’s products were sown.
